Anesthesiologist
The anesthesiologist administers the drug that puts the patient to sleep before the operation. The anesthesiologist also monitors the heart, lungs and kidneys while the patient is under anesthesia.
Education: An anesthesiologist is a physician who has completed four years of college, four years of medical school and up to five years of additional training.
